Dr. Kent Hovind, a Christian apologist who was wrongfully charged and found guilty on multiple accounts, served just shy of a ten year prison sentence, was released on Wednesday and provided his first interview from freedom to SonsOfLibertyMedia.com.
If you are unfamiliar with Dr. Hovind’s case, go to Lonestar1776‘s YouTube channel in order to get the full story on what he has had to endure at the hands of the Internal Revenue Service. He faced three main charges: Not withholding taxes from employees, “structuring” (taking money out of the bank that’s less than $10,000, and obstructing and IRS agent), According to Lonstar1776 (EDITORS NOTE: and thousands of other Kent Hovind supporters)
After nearly 10 years of persecution and the past month of solitary confinement (for no reason whatsoever) Kent Hovind is a free man as of July 8th, 2015. The government abused him, tried to destroy his spirit, dieseled him around the country nearly 30 times over the past 9 years, put him in cells with violent inmates, illegally tampered with court transcripts, and targeted him only because he was one of the only Christians who took a stand for God without compromising. He maintained his innocence for the past decade, all new charges were dropped, the IRS has now apologized for misapplying structuring laws, and very soon all of the 2006 charges will be overturned and Kent will be restored all that was stolen from him and his family. This was never about “taxes” and for the past 8 months we’ve posted hundreds of videos, released scores of documents that have exposed everything that has happened to this innocent man the past decade. Restitution is coming.
Back in May, Dr. Hovind was acquitted of charges against him, including a contempt conviction and three counts of mail fraud. Associated conspiracy charges were dismissed as well.
“I’m so excited about going home,” he told me as he drove home. Though he was craving Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC for those on the post-attacks on fried foods), they had to settle for Popeye’s. “Anything but prison food is good.”
Hovind was released early, though he could have been released in February 2013, according to legislation passed by Congress which allowed for a prisoner to be released after serving 85% of their sentence for good behavior.
However, the Bureau of Prisons has a vested monetary interest in maintaining as many bodies in prison as possible because they get money to keep those people there. It’s simple economics for them. It’s not about justice. If it were about justice, we wouldn’t have a prison system, we would be engaging in biblical law.
Hovind did explain that there was some fault on the part of those in the New Hampshire prison for his not being released earlier. “They definitely dropped the ball in the paperwork that would have had me released sooner.”
He will now have 30 days of home confinement and will wear an ankle bracelet. “I’m not sure of what all the home confinement means, but at least I’m out of prison,” Hovind said.
Dr. Hovind was very happy to share the fact that while in prison for nine years, he was able to minister to many men inside.
“In prison, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel as far as soul winning,” he said. “You’re stuck with these guys 24/7…. And they are generally hurting spiritually and searching and it’s an incredibly great place to win souls and really see lives changed and a wonderful experience for getting the gospel out.”
“I can see why so much of the New Testament, and the rest of the Bible period, is written from prison or from captivity,” he added. “There’s about 800 men I’ve led to the Lord in the last 9 years. I think we’ll see some real fruit from many of them.”
Hovind did say that he saw a growth of Islam also, mostly among Blacks. However, he believes that many of those “converting to Islam” do it for the “benefits” they receive from others. He also said that most have no idea of thehistory of Islam nor its true teachings, which is very similar to Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses. He even had a cellmate in New Hampshire who was Muslim.
Like the men of the Bible who were imprisoned wrongfully such as Joseph, Daniel, the Prophets, John the Baptist and the apostle Paul, Hovind maintains his innocence and integrity.
“There was no crime ever on my part,” he said.
Though he has no specific evidence of the fact, Dr. Hovind did express a sentiment that the whole ordeal “had all the fingerprints” of him being targeted by the IRS for his biblical teaching.
He pointed to the fact that when the Pharisees and the scribes of the day couldn’t get anything on Jesus, they went after Him on taxes and whether or not He paid them (Luke 20).
“He’s an enemy of Caesar,” said Hovind of those who would take such a view. “They can crucify anybody with that mindset, even God Himself.”
As for changing his teaching, Hovind is not moving. He did say that he would press emphasis in different areas, but the ordeal he has gone through has not deterred him.
Dr. Hovind, of DrDino.com, wanted to express his thanks to all those who wrote to him, visited him and supported him, especially with prayers while he was in prison.
“Thank you so much,” he told Sons of Liberty Media to share with those who have supported him. “I don’t see how people make it without the prayers and support of those on the outside.”
“So many people in prison get no prayers, no calls, no visits,” he lamented. “And people could and should be writing and visiting. This often results in double or triple the damage to those in prison by the neglect they receive.”
Dr. Hovind then referenced Matthew 25 and the words of the Lord Jesus:
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
