Debating accomplishes nothing. God does not want us to debate as Christians. While the world may work that way and spend time debating, that is not what Christians should spend time on. You can research and give a word of defense but don’t carry on the debate. It is not a sport or a game. Unbelievers spend countless hours wasting their breath and time trying to debate. Debate is actually arguing. Talking and answering questions and having a small discussion is OK but there is a point where it becomes useless debate. Stay away from wasting precious time on such things.
People who need to debate have their heart in the wrong place. To debate unbelievers is not bringing them to Christ. Pray for them and give them the gospel but don’t debate. God changes them not us. Debating Christians who don’t want to debate is really about rejecting God’s word and shaking their fists at God. They do it because of pride and anger which doesn’t really solve anything. God’s word is clear and a Christian wants to do what is right. If you are a Christian and confused about something in the Bible and you don’t want to believe anyone, ask the Lord for guidance.
1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Psalms 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Satan sends some of the debaters to social media and chat rooms and even on the streets in public. They might not even know why they do it. Sometimes they will get in people’s face just to yell and act like thugs or prideful conceited intellectuals. They believe it is a sign of intelligence to argue with Christians. God sees them and they don’t accomplish what they want to. Leave them be and pray for them. Be nice to people and try to get along but don’t get on the debate bandwagon. It is useless.
